The Republicans Communication Problem
by: Thomas Craig
The primary reason for this website is to encourage the strengthening of the Republican Party and to remind people what exactly a Republican is. A Republican, at its core, is a person dedicated to government’s fiscal responsibility and individual freedom. Republicans are for less government and less spending on waste. We hold dear certain values such as the importance of family and the belief in hard work and a free market. We could cast stones easily as to why we find ourselves in this current predicament. We can blame George W Bush, John McCain, Sarah Palin, etc. This only sidelines the true problem. The problem is that we need to communicate to the People and remind them of who we are.
What is happening in Washington, as we speak, is an absolute catastrophe waiting to happen. The more we learn about this Spending Bill, the more we all realize that it is the epitome of Democrats wasteful Government spending. The House Republicans unanimously rejected this bill and in doing so, proved that the spirit of the Party can be saved. You would not know this by following the media. Those amongst us who just want to cry about the medias left-wing bias are a detriment to the Party. The Media is not to blame; the Party is to blame for not getting their message out there. When I see GOP Leaders in a press conference, all I see are defensive measures in the form of responding to attacks of not being “bipartisan”. The Democrats are on the offensive here and they are being heard loud and clear. The Democrats are accusing us of putting Party before Country and merely rejecting the Spending Bill out of political reasons. This comes from the Party who practically prayed for America to fail in every way during the last eight years so that they could regain their lost power under President Clinton. This from the Party who wants to currently add over a TRILLION dollars more to our debt and “create jobs” by doling out billions for new government cars and contraception. Let’s also consider the People we are up against. President Obama is pushing for a bipartisan agreement and support of this bill. He is vigorously going out of his way not to attack or offend Republicans. The Democrats want this so if the Bill fails to save the economy, they can point out that Republicans voted for it as well. The attack dogs of their Party are Pelosi and Reid amongst others. With spokespeople such as these, we should be feeling more optimistic then ever. However, with the lack of Republican communication, not just THAT we reject the Spending Bill but WHY we reject the Spending Bill (and more importantly, how it will affect John and Jane Doe), the People will listen to the ridiculous ranting of whichever leaders make their case in the most passionate way.
The Democrats have made their case; they want to spend over a trillion dollars because they believe that injecting enough money into the economy will stimulate the economy. They believe in this despite admitting that they have no idea if it will work and all previous attempts to do this have failed. The Republicans want to take a cue from Ronald Reagan when he fixed the economy by increasing tax cuts to put money directly in people’s pockets and stimulate businesses, which in return will keep or hire employees instead of being forced to lay them off. They want to cut tax rates on capital gains to stimulate investment. They acknowledge that money must be spent, but they want it spent on actual measures that will help the economy and create jobs. This message is not being sent to the American People and that is our biggest problem. We need more effective communication to younger people via the internet, we need better explanation of the “why” and how our measures will actually benefit people, and we need to stand up to the Democrats gone wild at every forum. We owe it to our Country!
